Suzanne is a ceramic artist who draws her inspiration from nature. She is a peaceful and laid-back teacher who focuses on the importance of the basics of pottery, while allowing her students the creative freedom to work on their own ideas and concepts. She teaches wheel-throwing and hand-building in her private studio.

Q: What is a hand building pottery lesson?
A: 4 weeks of instruction, 2 hours each lesson for a total of 8 hours. $300. Includes all clay, tools, glazing and firing. Learn to make a pinch-pot and add features on to it with slipping and scoring to make small bowls, figurines or mugs. Learn to work with slabs to make plates or platters. Learn to work with coils to make larger pots. Each piece will be bisque fired and you will glaze it. I will re-fire the glaze piece and you will be able to pick up your piece after the class concludes.
Q: What is a wheel lesson?
A: 4 weeks of instruction, 2 hours each lesson for a total of 8 hours. $300. Includes all clay, tools, glazing and firing. Learn to center the clay, open the clay, pull walls, trim, add handles, glaze. I will walk you through all of the stages. You may make mugs, bowls, plates, or anything you wish. I will bisque-fire your finished pieces, you will glaze then I will re-fire your glazed piece. You will be able to pick up your finished work after the class concludes.
Q: What is Open Studio?
A: Open Studio is time in the studio for you to create at your own pace. You will purchase a bag of clay and work on your project in the studio. You will have your own space to store your clay, tools, and in-progress pieces. Once pieces are completely dry, you may move them to the kiln room for firing. Firing prices will be based on the square inches of your pieces, or you may fire an entire shelf. Firing price sheet is in the studio and subject to change.
Q: When is Open Studio?
A: Open Studio is currently available between 9-5 on Thursdays and Fridays by reservation. $20 per hour for drop-in times or monthly rates starting at $100 for 2 hours per week. Please call 678.230.5842 for reservations and to discuss rates.
